New Directions, an out-patient chemical dependency treatment program located in the historic Park Slope section of Brooklyn, has developed an integrated clinical approach to treatment that focuses on the chemically dependent individual and their immediate social environment. This approach helps individuals to recognize and change their maladaptive behavior, to understand life stressors as they affect chemical dependence, and to develop better coping mechanisms. It also impacts on the individual's social support system, promoting more constructive reinforcement of sobriety through a focus on the family and social network. This dual approach serves to encourage and enable the chemically dependent individual to truly seek "new directions" in order to develop a more positive lifestyle.

Recognizing the growing treatment needs of the substance abusing population, New Directions was founded in 1988 to service this community. Licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, it has grown to be a cornerstone of chemical dependency treatment in Brooklyn.New Directions Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment Program services provided: Substance abuse treatment services Substance abuse treatment, Buprenorphine Services.
