The Refuge's defines substance abuse as using or abusing alcohol, heroin, meth, marijuana, prescription drugs, any other mood-altering substance or mood-altering behavior.

During The Refuge substance abuse treatment course, we look at the underlying causes for a client's addiction.

The Refuge strongly believes in the twelve-step process, therefore all of our clients attend some form of meeting. When clients arrive on property, they receive a copy of  œAlcoholics Anonymous,  œDaily Reflections,  and  œTwelve Steps and Twelve Traditions.  This allows clients to become familiar with the twelve steps and understand that they are essential to long-term recovery.
